Jono D Pearce
Ultimate 80s
(Sunday - 4pm)
Hey, Jono here..
It is difficult to say what my favourite music is as I love all eras and genres of music. As a child I was brought up listening to classical music as my father had a huge record collection, so due being brought up within a musically orientated family, I grew to appreciate most types of good music.
I am from Gillingham in Kent and back in the day I was inspired by legends such as the late Terry Wogan, Steve Wright listening to the radio and later the great Ken Bruce. I love conversational radio as opposed to presenters who read scripts and screens!!
I have been involved in presenting since the young age of 14. Over the years I have presented a number of different shows throughout the South East of England on various different radio stations. My first radio show experience would have been when I was around 11 years old when I had a spot on my school radio for half hour. However, since the age of 7 or 8 you would find me creating my own shows on an old reel to reel tape recorder. I would pretend to read the news and dream of one day being on the legendary BBC Radio 1. I went on to host shows on hospital radio, and later work for RTRM in London, and Medway FM.
The first ever record I owned was one that my mum bought me "Band Aid's - Do they know it’s Christmas" back in 1984. The first record I bought myself is difficult to remember to be honest as I bought so many with all my pocket money, but it possibly would have been one of the "Now That's What I Call Music" albums.
I haven't quite made BBC Radio 1 "Just yet", but I am proud to be a presenter here on
ASR (Allsounds Radio). You can hear my show "Ultimate 80s" on Sunday Afternoons from 4pm.
I hope you can join me..
Jono
